Located on the west coast, Ciutadella was previously the island’s capital until it was moved to Mahon in the 16th century. The bishop refused to move, so the old capital is still known as the religious centre and is home to Menorca’s only cathedral. Steeped in history and with plenty of character, the town is a maze of charming cobbled streets lined with boutique shops and bars. Head to the spectacular harbour where you’ll find plenty of restaurants serving great seafood. Ciutadella is a fantastic base to explore the stunning coastline.
